What course do I need to do?

- GPs registered for MOPS are required to complete our Resuscitation Level 5 Refresher 4 hour course. This provides the required certificate of participation. 
- Doctors applying for Fellowship are required to complete our Resuscitation Level 5 Initial (assessed) 6 hour course. The certificate for this course should not be more than 3 years old at the date of the award of Fellowship. 
- For registrars in training (GPEP), a current (less than 3 years old) certificate at Level 5 or 7 is required.

What is the expected pre-reading preparation required for these courses?

Pre-course material is expected to be four hours of self-directed learning and research on the following topics:
- Basic ECG training
- IM adrenaline
- Manual defibrillation

You are expected to access resources at your disposal. Examples of suitable texts may include:
- Basic Resuscitation for the Health Professional (NZRC) 2013 (available from NZRC)
- PRIME course material (resuscitation )
- Bledsoe et al (2012) Paramedic care Principles and practice, vols 1-5
and/or other resources that you have or can access that cover the required areas of study

How long are your certificates valid for?

Our certificates are valid for 2 years. Please note that many professional bodies and colleges recognise certificates for up to 3 years, so the date of issue is more important than the expiry. 

The certificate for Fellowship must include a statement of competence - based on assessment and a minimum of 6 hours training duration with expected reading preparation / study time of at least 4 hours.

What is the minimum number of students required to run a course?

The minimum number of student required per course is four.
