Need Nine Campaign Progressing in Pukekohe

Town-based volunteers are still needed to ensure the viability of the Pukekohe St John events service which covers the Franklin District.
St John in Pukekohe ran an events volunteer campaign in August, attracting new volunteers – but no-one from Pukekohe town has come forward.
“A number of people from the Franklin district have registered interest in becoming a volunteer and we are delighted with the positive response from the community,” says Michael Bancroft, Community Services Area Manager, St John Northern Region.
However St John still needs some Pukekohe residents to volunteer to meet its “Need Nine” requirements and is conducting a mailing campaign to Pukekohe sports clubs and community organisations who use its service.
The events volunteers, separate to the ambulance, provide first aid and emergency service care to patients at community events, such as netball, bowls, rugby fairs, school activities, BMX and horse racing.
“Any Pukekohe resident interested in becoming an events volunteer is most welcome to phone 0800 ST JOHN (0800 785 646) and ask for a recruitment package,” he says.
