St John :: Youth Programme Leader

The St John Youth programme provides opportunities for young men and women aged 18 and upwards to develop the skills and attitudes they need to take part positively in society, now and in the future.

The effort you put in as a leader isn't only rewarded in seeing kids grow and realise their potential, there's also the development of your own life skills ... leadership, people management, understanding kids and teenagers, as well as practical skills in health and medical emergencies. Being a leader will also teach you a valuable lesson - to achieve the best you can.

The experience is part of a solid foundation that builds upon involvement with the Youth programme, from which both you and the whole community can benefit. The provision of a Youth programme is an important part of St John's overall work in New Zealand. Its success is dependant upon the enormous contributions of volunteer Youth leaders.

Leaders teach skills in a variety of areas to young people between the ages of 6 and 18 years, boosting their confidence and self esteem and teaching them the importance of teamwork all in a safe, secure and fun environment.

Key requirements are:

  • Tons of energy, a sense of adventure and a positive can do attitude
  • An interest in the development of young people
  • An appreciation of different cultures
  • A compassionate and caring nature
