First aid recertification made easy
Being ready to help in an emergency means having up-to-date first aid skills. This course includes theory and practice to refresh your knowledge, teach you the latest first aid techniques and maintain your confidence as a first aider. Once you’ve completed the online component, you will attend a half-day first aid class at St John.

Together, the online and face-to-face components provide 6 hours of learning and assessment time.  Please note – the online component and the in class component must be completed within 3 months from commencement of original online booking. Both the online and in class portions must be completed within 2 years and 3 months of your previous certificate expiry.

If you’re a designated provider of workplace first aid, you need to revalidate your certificate every two years. This course makes that easy, because half the work is done online in your own time.

What you’ll gain
Our Online Refresher Course allows you to complete part of your first aid refresher online, then join an in-class session for an afternoon to practice your learning. On completion you will:

  • have revalidated your first aid certificate
  • be up-to-date with the latest first aid practices

Technology requirements
For the online learning component of this first aid training, you will need a computer with broadband internet access and the latest version of Adobe Flash-player. If you have an older version of Flash, you will be prompted to update when you first access the online programme. The programme uses intensive graphics, so your computer will need to perform well with interactive multimedia.

The Online First Aid Refresher course does not include assessment for unit standards and is only applicable to students, who have previously attended a First Aid Level 1/ First Aid Level 2/ First Aid Refresher course or the equivalent, completed within the last 2 years. If your certificate was issued more than two years ago, or you need to learn first aid from scratch, or you require unit standards, consider a comprehensive basic course like First Aid - Level One.

We are required to ensure students are eligible for First Aid Refresher training.  Therefore if you previously completed training with another provider, you are required to either send in a copy of your current certificate or, bring it along with you to your course to prove eligibility. Your tutor is required to sight this document.

If you are unable to produce your certificate or proof of your eligibility for a first aid refresher course, your tutor will not be able to give you a certificate on the day.  If you then send proof within 5 days of attending the course, your certificate will be released.

Both the online and in class portions must be completed within 2 years and 3 months of your previous certificate expiry.
