I started my career as a frontline ambulance officer with the Wellington Free Ambulance Service where I served for 18 years, going on to become the Deputy Chief Ambulance Officer before moving to St John.
I have served St John for more than 50 years and held various volunteer and paid positions including, District Commissioner, Youth Manager, Area Committee Member, General Manager Midland Region (now part of Central region), Operations Manager, and General Manager for Northern Region, before being appointed to the part-time position of Head of Order Matters, later retitled Priory Secretary. I am currently a member of the Priory Board.
I have previously also served the Priory of St John as Director of Ceremonies for seven years and a member of the Priory Chapter for three years.
I live in Hamilton with Kate, and we have four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren with our blended families.
We have a small caravan, I go fishing occasionally and enjoy some casual golf. I also take the opportunity to ride my Harley Davidson sports glide motorcycle as often as possible but only when the weather is fine.
