STATEMENT: INCIDENT INVOLVING A HATO HONE ST JOHN VEHICLE IN WESTLAND

Hato Hone St John confirms that an ambulance was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Ruatapu Road, Westland, at 3.41pm today.

At the time of the crash the ambulance was responding to another incident. No patients were on board the ambulance.

Hato Hone St John responded to the Westland incident and sent one ambulance and one manager. One person has been taken to Te Nīkau, Grey Hospital in critical condition. Ambulance staff were uninjured in the incident.

Hato Hone St John takes the health and safety of our patients and ambulance staff very seriously. We will continue to investigate the incident and work with New Zealand Police.

Our thoughts are with the patient and our staff involved.
