Ultra-Fast Broadband is here. But don't let that worry your elderly patients.

You probably know that Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) is rolling out around New Zealand. By 2020, 75% of homes are expected to be connected to a UFB landline.  But did you know that adopting this technology could affect your elderly patients’ ability to dial 111 or use their medical alarm in an emergency?  That’s why we’re future-proofing our clients on UFB with a new type of medical alarm. It’s wireless - so is unaffected by any UFB issues.  That means you can continue recommending St John with confidence.

What is UFB?

UFB is a new type of home landline that sends light via optical fibres. It replaces your current copper phone line which sends electrical signals.  Its main benefit is faster and smoother internet. But it also has some shortcomings for elderly patients.  Play the video to get the full story…
