Neville Darrow

Neville joined St. John in 1993 and was appointed to the Board of the Northern Region later that year.  In 1998 he was elected Chairman of the Priory Trust Board and the following year he was elected Chancellor of the Priory in New Zealand.  Following an extensive international business career Neville brought a broad commercial experience both strategic and operational to this most senior position in St. John.

Neville served two terms as Chancellor and drove an agenda which had as its overriding goal the unifying of the Priory into a cohesive organisation acting co-operatively, supportively and speaking with a collective voice – in a word “One St. John”.  In the years that followed this objective was adopted by the International Order of St. John as a first and basic priority. During his time as Chancellor Neville was an active member of the International Board of the Order.  He was promoted to Bailiff Grand Cross in 2006 and now serves as a permanent member of Priory Chapter.

Neville was born and educated in Auckland.  He is a Chartered Accountant and holds the degree a Bachelor of Commerce.  Following a broad career in business during which he lived and worked overseas for many years Neville joined Fletcher Holdings/Fletcher Challenge Limited where he held a number of senior management positions over some 18 years.  He retired from Fletcher Challenge in 1993.  Subsequently, Neville has served on many public company boards and is a widely experienced public company Chairman and Director.  He was Chairman of Ports of Auckland from 2000 to 2006.

Neville is a widower having lost his beloved Lindsay in 2014.  Lindsay was an Officer in St. John.  Neville continues to live in Auckland.
