My ambulance career started as a frontline ambulance officer with the Wellington Free Ambulance Service in 1969 where I stayed for 18 years, going on to become the Deputy Chief Ambulance Officer before moving to St John in Hamilton.
I have been an active member of St John for more than 50 years and held various volunteer and paid positions including Youth leader, Brigade District Commissioner for Wellington, Wairarapa and Nelson / Marlborough, General Manager Midland Region (now part of Central region), Operations Manager, and General Manager for Northern Region, before being appointed to the part-time position of Head of Order Matters and now more recently, Priory Secretary.
I was also Director of Ceremonies for the Priory for seven years and a member of the Priory Chapter for three years
