Launching our plan for the future
Our five-year plan (previously referred to as the Integrated Business Plan) identifies our priorities and where we need to place our focus. People across the organisation have told us they want to know what our plan means for them and the communities they work in; how it helps them carry out their role; and what impact it will have on the people that we step forward to help.
They want to see how their work contributes to the overall direction of Hato Hone St John, and to feel what they’re doing is meaningful and adds value.
Having a plan for the future helps us prioritise what we do and makes sure that we’re providing services that have a real impact on improving New Zealanders health and wellbeing. We’re most likely to achieve the results we want from our plan, if everybody at Hato Hone St John can see how they can help make it happen.
There are real benefits to our patients, communities, customers & supporters, and all of us who work and volunteer at Hato Hone St John when everybody is pitching in to achieve the same goals.
Having on-going conversations about our plans can help create healthier teams too. Building a common understanding can help build trust, commitment and a sense of ownership that leads to a high achieving approach to achieving results. We’ve pulled together a series of resources that will help you and your teams, get to know the details of our plan. You’ll find an outline of these below, along with links to access the resources.

STEPPING FORWARD
Consider this like a forward look annual report that instead of highlighting our successes and achievements of the past year, outlines our vision and anticipated outcomes for the future. These booklets are now available to order from the Office Max online catalogue - code 4515862.
Similar to the Bigger picture that summarised our last plan, this gives you an overview of the plan and our strategic aims at a glance. We will soon be distributing printed copies to all stations, but in the meantime you can print out a copy to take a look at some of the changes (best on A3).
Take a look at the plans for all of our directorates and regions, to learn in more detail about the focus areas for each and how their plans for the next five years fit into our overarching plans.
Our Stepping Forward Journal has been created to help you understand and translate the plan for yourself and your teams. These are ready to order with Office Max through EPOS. If you don't have access to this platform, talk to whoever normally orders items for your office and they should be able to help.
