Peter Bradley’s career in the emergency ambulance service spans over 30 years. He worked as a paramedic and then as a senior ambulance operational manager in Auckland for a number of years.  In 1995, he took time out to complete an MBA at Otago University.  In 1996, he joined London Ambulance Service (LAS) as Director of Operations.  He was appointed Chief Executive of the LAS in 2000.

Peter returned to New Zealand in 2012 and became Chief Executive Officer of Hato Hone St John in the same year. Since his arrival, Peter has led the development of a new five year strategy and as part of that has seen the launch of new Values for the organisation, the implementation of world-leading electronic Patient Report Forms (ePRF), and the 111 Clinical Hub.  More recently, Peter has  led the  successful Government funding bid to end single crewing across the country – one of the most significant developments in Hato Hone St John’s history, with the recruitment of over 400 extra ambulance staff.

During his time in the United Kingdom, Peter was also the Chairman of the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, an organisation he helped establish in 2011.  He was also National Director of Ambulance Services for UK’s Department of Health from 2004 to 2012 and led a strategic review of the National Health Service ambulance services.

Peter was awarded a CBE in the 2005 Queen’s New Year's Honours for services to the Ambulance Service in England and is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management.
