St John New Zealand has received a new emergency vehicle for its Auckland fleet, donated by the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand.

The Rapid Response Unit vehicle was dedicated during a ceremony in Auckland on Tuesday 30 July.

The vehicle will operate out of the St John Mt Wellington station and will primarily be ultilised by shift supervisors during major incidents like car crashes.
Each year St John receives more than 533,000 111 emergency calls for an ambulance and ambulance officers treat or transport more than 480,000 patients. Rapid Response Units are designed to reach patients promtly and are able to travel through traffic faster than an ambulance.

"As a charity, St John needs donations to continue the vital work we do throughout the country. We are grateful for generous donations from individuals, families and groups like the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand,” says St John General Manager – Northern and Central Region, Andrew Boyd.

In September 2018, Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand donated a fully-equipped Gen 3 emergency ambulance to St John’s West Auckland operations.

Chao Shan has indicated its commitment to donating four more ambulances to St John within the next 12 months.

St John values the ongoing support of the Chao Shan General Association of New Zealand. Their patronage ensures St John is able to continue replacing its older fleet with new, up-to-date equipment and emergency vehicles essential to responding to the public in an emergency.
