A trio of Auckland-based Chinese organisations have been awarded a Priory Vote of Thanks for their exceptional contribution to the work of St John in New Zealand.

The Chao Shan Association of New Zealand, the HS Chau Foundation and the Global Federation of Chinese Business Woman have each been honoured with a 2018 Priory Vote of Thanks by the Order of St John Prior, Her Excellency, The Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM QSO DStJ, on the recommendation of the Priory Chapter.

The award is presented annually in New Zealand to recognise clubs, institutions, businesses and individuals for their conspicuous services to St John.

“Over the past year, we have received exceptional support from organisations and individuals in the Chinese community, who, through various fundraising initiatives have gifted us with new vehicles as well as significant monetary donations. We have also welcomed about a hundred Mandarin speakers who have volunteered for our Caring Caller service,” says Glen Hill, St John General Manager – Northern Region.

In 2018, the Chao Shan Association of New Zealand, the HS Chau Foundation and the Global Federation of Chinese Business Woman provided three new First Response Units. The Chao Shan Association also gifted a Frontline Gen3 emergency ambulance.

“As a charity, we rely on donations and volunteers to deliver our services to New Zealanders who need them. We are immensely grateful for the generosity that individuals and organisations within the Chinese community have shown us. We are committed to delivering high quality, patient-focussed health services that boost the welfare of everybody in the country and the support we’ve received certainly helps us to further the work are doing,” says Hill.

St John wishes all a happy, healthy and prosperous Chinese New Year. Look out for our ambulance event team at the Auckland Lantern Festival next week.
