- What is St John in Schools?
St John in Schools delivers a range of fun, interactive and engaging programmes that teaches tamariki (children) and rangatahi (youth) how to be life savers in an emergency, how to keep themselves and others safe from injury, and how to boost their self-confidence and resilience. We're committed to developing confident young people who care for each other, and the health and wellbeing of their communities.
- What can I expect when you visit?
Our team of trained Community Educators, who are based around Aotearoa, visit your school to deliver age-appropriate programmes on first aid, mental wellbeing and resilience. Our educators work with you to give your students the best experience and learning outcomes.
- How do I know which programme is right for me/my school/organisation?
Our programmes run from ECE level right through to Year 13 and above, and span across first aid, mental wellbeing and resilience. Take a look at our handy decision tool to help you find the right programme.

With support from our community there is no cost for participants. We are grateful to everyone who donates to us and helps us further our mahi in communities around Aotearoa.

- What is Courage in Action?
Our Courage in Action award recognises and celebrates brave tamariki by awarding them a Courage in Action certificate and cape, and proudly showcasing their bravery to family and friends. We are always looking for more children to recognise with this award.
- How do i nominate a child for a Courage in Action award?
If you hear or know about a child who has responded to an emergency situation, or has acted to support the mental wellbeing of others, please fill out the nomination form here or contact the St John in Schools team at: schools@stjohn.org.nz
