We care about the wellbeing of New Zealanders and helping people live happier, healthier, and more confident lives. We want to make it easier to get the care you need for yourself or a loved one - whether that’s transport to a health appointment, a friendly phone call or help at the press of a button, support is never far away.

Peace of mind is everything

If you live alone or have a health condition, a St John Medical Alarm connects you with expert help 24/7 at the press of a button. It helps maintain independence and gives you and your whānau peace of mind when they can’t be there.

Whether you’re out and about often or mostly stay at home, we have a solution to suit. Plus, you may be able to get an alarm fully funded. To arrange a free trial, talk to your doctor or nurse or call us on 0800 50 23 23.

Helping you get to your health appointments

Our Waka Ora Health Shuttle is a koha (donation) based service that helps get you to health and wellbeing appointments. Thanks to our volunteer drivers we have Waka Ora Health Shuttles in 62 communities across the country. There’s no need to miss essential appointments or rely on friends and whānau taking time off work.

Some of our shuttles are fitted with hoists or wheelchair access to support passengers with limited mobility.

For more information on how our shuttles operate, check out the Waka Ora Health Shuttle Passenger Guide.

A caring kōrero (chat) can make a difference

Caring Caller is a free service that offers a regular chat to help break up a long day. Caring Caller clients are matched with a friendly Hato Hone St John volunteer who makes a regular phone call, offering companionship and support. Our callers often make lasting friendships with their clients based on shared interests like gardening, reading or sport.

Request a Caring Caller or phone us on 0800 4 CALLER (0800 422 5537).
