Why have I got a bill for using the ambulance?

St John ambulance Services are not fully government funded. Contracts with the Ministry of Health, ACC and District Health Boards fund nearly 70% of our Ambulance Service direct operating costs. The shortfall needs to be made up from other areas; these include community donations, fundraising, revenue from our commercial activities, the contribution of our volunteers, as well as contributions from part charges. The cost to Hato Hone St John of a typical emergency ambulance call out is around $670 (incl GST) based on 408,619 emergency incidents a year (2018/19 data).” Find out more about Ambulance Part Charges
