St John and Wellington Free Ambulance are committed to working with general practice, to ensure information is connected to a patient’s healthcare home when they are assessed and treated by ambulance personnel in the community.

St John and Wellington Free Ambulance will soon start sending ambulance care summaries to GPs where the patient has not been transported to a medical facility. Ambulance personnel attend over 500,000 patients each year. Of this number, over 80,000 patients with a low acuity condition are assessed and treated by ambulance personnel in the community, without requiring transport to a medical facility. Sending an ambulance care summary to the GP will keep the patient’s general practice team informed when a patient is seen by ambulance personnel.
