THERAPY PETS AND SUMMERSET

Amy Milne |

We are thrilled to be partnering with Summerset Retirement Homes who are kindly sponsoring our St John Therapy Pets programme, enabling it both to grow and to continue the great work our furry friends do.

The funding provided by Summerset will contribute toward the recruitment for more Therapy Pet volunteers, set up and pet assessment costs, as well as cover the cost uniform for both the volunteer and the pets. The support from Summerset will enable the St John Therapy Pet programme to gain more visibility within the community, starting with getting to know residents at Summerset Retirement homes.

Steve Montgomery, Hato Hone St John General Manager Community Health Services, welcomes Summerset Retirement Homes’ support and says it will provide our St John Therapy Pets programme the opportunity to elevate its services within our communities.

“It will also help us expand our programme and introduce new volunteers to the programme, allowing us to provide more assistance to New Zealanders in need of the joy our Therapy Pets bring.”

Scott Scoullar, Summerset Retirement Homes Chief Executive, says they are pleased to be in partnership with such a valuable community organisation.

“Our support of their Therapy Pets Programme will allow this popular and enriching programme to grow. Bringing the best of life to our residents is at the heart of what we do,” he says.

“The uplifting benefits our residents, and the wider community can receive from interacting with a therapy pet make this partnership a perfect fit for us. We’re also pleased to be having our villages throughout the country involved in the partnership by supporting St John’s annual fundraising appeal each year”.
