NEW HATO HONE ST JOHN VEHICLE FOR MANAWATŪ-WHANGANUI COMMUNITY

Edward Connolly |

A new Hato Hone St John First Response Unit (FRU) is ready to support the Manawatū-Whanganui region, thanks to a generous donation by Steven Wai Cheung Wong and his family.

Ling Ling Liang, Hato Hone St John’s Chinese Community Liaison – Northern Region, says the FRU is an important vehicle to support the region and its people.

“FRUs are fit-for-purpose vehicles. They are smaller and more agile than most of our fleet, and built to handle rural conditions, enabling us to get to the scene of an emergency as quickly as possible in some of these hard-to-reach areas. They can also transport patients to the nearest hospital if required.

“Vehicles like these are important in emergency response situations. This generous gift from Steven Wai Cheung Wong and his family will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the Eketāhuna and wider communities.”
