MAJOR INCIDENT IN AUCKLAND CBD

St John returned to Augusta House following a further call at 5:37pm, treating 13 more people and transporting 3 of those people in moderate condition to Auckland Hospital.

UPDATE 14:00

St John confirms that it has responded to a major incident resulting from unknown substance exposure at Augusta House on Victoria Street West in the Auckland CBD this morning.

St John has triaged over 100 patients and transported 12 through to Auckland Hospital in alert, stable and conscious (status 3) condition.

St John was alerted to the incident at 9.23am and has responded with ten ambulances, two multi-patient transport units, specialist response (SERT) and an additional four managers totalling approximately 30 staff. 

Ambulance officers remain on scene assessing and treating the remaining office evacuees.

St John advises anyone who subsequently experiences symptoms of nausea, vomiting, headache, sore throat and/or eyes and their symptoms persist or get worse to visit their GP or Accident & Medical Clinic.

Motorists are advised to avoid Victoria Street West and environs while emergency services remain on scene.
