GRASSROOTS TRUST SUPPORTS FIVE NEW HATO HONE ST JOHN VEHICLES IN 2025 SO FAR

Charlotte Newman |

Hato Hone St John is extremely grateful for the support of longtime funder Grassroots Trust, which has provided enough funding to the organisation to purchase five frontline vehicles so far this year.

Between February and March 2025, Grassroots Trust has generously granted Hato Hone St John (HHStJ) more than one million dollars in funds to purchase new vehicles, for both the Emergency Ambulance Service (EAS) and Patient Transfer Service (PTS).

As current government funding does not meet all operational and capital costs of the emergency ambulance service, fundraising plays a critical role in managing that gap. HHStJ rely on the generosity of individual funders, such as the Grassroots Trust, and foundations to help purchase much needed vehicles and other resources.

Leanne Tiscornia, HHStJ Head of Fundraising, says the organisation has one of the biggest fundraising programmes in the country, generating over $50m revenue annually which contributes to all the services we deliver to our communities, including the emergency ambulance service.

“This year alone, Grassroots Trust has donated more than $1 million in funds to purchase two PTS vehicles, one each for Kawakawa and Tauranga, an all-wheel drive EAS ambulance for Dunedin, and two further EAS ambulances, one each for Otamatea and Bream Bay.

“We are incredibly grateful for the amazing and long-standing support from Grassroots Trust, who over the past three years has granted us approximately $3.8 million in funds. This money has gone towards helping us bolster our vehicle fleet for the benefit of various communities around Aotearoa New Zealand.

“The continued support from Grassroots Trust will help us continue improving the lives of hundreds of people each day,” says Leanne.

The incoming five vehicles are currently on the production line and will be launched into their respective areas as soon as they are complete.
