UPDATED ST JOHN STATEMENT REGARDING NOTIFICATION OF INDUSTRIAL ACTION

Victoria Hawkins |

St John welcomes the decision by four of the unions that represent ambulance officers (Amalgamated Workers Union of New Zealand Southern Inc, New Zealand Ambulance Association, Ambulance Officers Workers Union and Central Amalgamated Workers Union) to withdraw from industrial action on 4-9 November, 2016.

St John also welcomes the decision of First Union to scale back industrial action.

St John had raised concerns around patient and staff safety as a result of the originally planned industrial action.

The unions have clarified that their outstanding issues do not involve fatigue but relate specifically to the term of the Agreement, pay and leave.

We are continuing the collective bargaining process through mediation and hope to reach an agreement that suits all parties.

St John continues to work in good faith and prefers to discuss relevant issues directly with unions and our staff.
