St John can confirm three personnel were involved in an accident at the Silver Fern Rally in Southland this afternoon.

The car was not an ambulance and was not transporting patients. It was a car carrying a specialist St John motorsport medical team who were providing paramedic cover at the rally.

There were three occupants in the car, and all sustained injuries. One has been transported by air ambulance to Dunedin Hospital. The other two patients have been transported to a local medical centre.

St John is supporting those involved in the incident and their families.

St John has no further comment at the stage.
