In a New Zealand first, the Association of Registered Beauty Professionals has booked the largest number of St John First Aid tutors in a single day to deliver first aid training to almost 200 members.
The BeautyNZ First Aid Day takes place on Monday 13th August, and Association Manager Dee Clothier says they are proud to be working with St John to increase first aid knowledge in the New Zealand beauty industry.
“The BeautyNZ First Aid Day is ultimately about keeping our consumers safe. This is the first time we’ve offered subsidised first aid courses to members, and we would love to make it a regular event. The primary objective is to encourage a safe and qualified workforce, and to make it accessible for members with sessions all around the country.
“The Association guidelines require members to have a current first aid certificate, and through this initiative members can access cost-effective training, while networking with other industry professionals. This gives the public confidence that by choosing a Member of the Association of Registered Beauty Professionals, they are choosing a safe pair of hands,” Ms Clothier says.
St John Head of Training, Julian Price, says this is the largest Level One booking by a single organisation, being delivered across New Zealand on the same day. The Association is offering significantly discounted training to all its members, with St John expecting to train almost 200 industry professionals.
“We all know the value of first aid training for the skills and confidence that can be gained and ultimately the lives that can be saved. In cardiac arrest incidents for example, every second counts and immediate bystander intervention is crucial to increasing the chances of survival.
“St John welcomes this partnership, and is thrilled to see the Association of Registered Beauty Professionals taking leadership in equipping its members with life saving skills,” Mr Price says.
The New Zealand Association of Registered Beauty Professionals is a self-regulating not-for-profit organisation working towards achieving a high level of professional and ethical practicing standards to support its members, whilst safeguarding consumers and the industry.
The Association has members across the industry from tattooing and piercings to beauty, hair and therapy, with a vision to build a strong unified community of like-minded professionals.
