AMBULANCE ACCIDENT IN MOEREWA, NORTHLAND

St John confirms that an ambulance carrying a status one patient was involved in an accident with a power pole in Moerewa, Northland at 6.37am this morning. No other vehicles were involved.

The patient has subsequently died and St John’s condolences go out to the family.

The three ambulance officers aboard the vehicle attending the patient have been transported to Whangarei Hospital for assessment and monitoring.  The crew are obviously very shaken and distressed and one member of staff has suffered moderate injurers.

“We are supporting our staff involved in this accident and our thoughts are with the patient’s family at this time,” says Derek Liefting, St John Assistant Director of Operations.

“St John takes the health and safety of our patients and ambulance officers very seriously.”

St John will be supporting the police investigation.
