CHEMICAL INCIDENT IN AUCKLAND CBD

 

St John confirms that three ambulances responded to a suspected chemical incident at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in the Auckland CBD this morning.

St John was alerted to the incident at 11.01am and has an additional three manager vehicles on scene. 

A 58 year-old male patient underwent decontamination by the New Zealand Fire Service but was deceased at scene.

Ambulance officers have assessed a further ten patients at the scene who do not need to be transported to hospital.

Motorists are advised to avoid lower Hobson Street and environs while people are evacuated from the Hotel and scene.
