ST JOHN TREATS TARANAKI AIR CRASH SURVIVORS

Victoria Hawkins |

St John paramedics were first on the scene this morning as survivors of the Taranaki aircraft crash were located in rugged terrain and then transported by rescue helicopter to Taranaki Base hospital.

Due to the location of the aircraft the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter undertook a complex winching process to allow St John paramedics access to assess and care for patients and extract both survivors.

Both patients sustained moderate injuries in the crash and were taken to hospital for treatment and further examination.

“When we arrived at the aircraft we found the first survivor walking around the crash site. We were ecstatic to find survivors and provide care for them,” St John Taranaki Territory Manager Roger Blume says.
