Update on St John Response to Earthquake – 10pm, 14 November 2016

St John continues to operate a National Crisis Coordination Centre overnight while monitoring the approaching weather front.

We have all our ground and air resources in place to support the affected communities of Kaikoura and surrounding areas and continue to work with Civil Defence, Government, emergency and health agencies. We are moving patients out of Kaikoura as needed.

St John is operating business as usual throughout the rest of New Zealand. While the number of emergency ambulance incidents in Canterbury and Tasman areas this morning were almost double normal levels, 111 call volumes for ambulance assistance have now returned to normal levels.

St John advises people to have their phones, medicines and emergency kits with them and to keep in contact with family and friends.  Please refer to Civil Defence website http://www.civildefence.govt.nz/ and Civil Defence in your region for local instructions.
