SINGLE AMBULANCE ACCIDENT NORTH OF OTOROHANGA

Victoria Hawkins |

St John confirms that an ambulance went off the road at 6.45am this morning just north of the Otorohanga Township on State Highway 3. No other vehicles were involved.

The ambulance was returning from a job and no patients were aboard the vehicle.  A paramedic and nurse escort were aboard.

Previous reports of patients being aboard the ambulance at the time of the incident are incorrect.

There were no injuries from the incident but another ambulance attended the scene at 6.53am and transported the paramedic to hospital for assessment.

“We are supporting the paramedic and nurse involved in the accident.  Naturally we will work with Police to investigate the cause of the accident,” says Stuart Cockburn, St John Director Operations Manager, Waikato.
